Treatment

• Chinese Burial Temple, date unknown, once known artist, soapstone.

  • Measured and cut carbon fiber rods to replace deteriorating original pegs.  Reattached broken pieces with B72 in acetone.  Create instructions and annotated diagram identifying how to assemble object.

• Taichi, 1985, Ju Ming, bronze.

  • Applied patina to and tone newly welded areas.  Washed, rinsed, and dried.  Applied tinted wax and buffed surface.

• Lion sculptures, c. late 1800s, once known artist, concrete.

  • Stabilized cracks in concrete.  Created fills.

• Pastoral Staff, c. 1890s, once known artist, sting-ray leather, aluminum, gold, enamel.

  • Removed leather from handle and humidified to reshape and flatten.  Reduced aluminum corrosion mechanically.  Assisted with reattaching leather to handle.

• Billiard ball table pockets, c. 1800s, once known artist, leather, textiles.

  • Created leather fills for areas of loss.  Recreated textile to be used as a fill by color matching paint, applying it to a new textile, and recreating the design in the paint prior to it drying.

• Trunk cover and trunk, c. late 1800s, attributed to S. L. Clements, canvas, leather, wood, metal.

  • Surface cleaned, consolidated red rot, applied patches to holes and tears, lined canvas trunk cover,

• Silver fish pendant, c. mid 1900s, casted silver fish and blue ribbon.

  • Removed double sided tape and adhesive residue, lined ribbon, used couching stitches to reattach detached ribbon section, surface cleaned and removed silver tarnish, created mounting board.

Treatments

• Cruet Set: Silver Stand, 1862, designed by Christopher Dresser and manufactured by Hukin & Heath, sterling silver and glass.

  • Performed solubility and cleaning tests, removed lacquer, removed silver tarnish, adhered silver component onto its glass component, and applied lacquer coating.

• Pinkerton, B 04-11-03, 2004, Jun Kaneko, cast bronze with patina and steel table with patina, located outside.

  • Washed, rinsed, and dried. Removed corrosion from top of mild steel table and applied protective coating. Applied wax to bronze and buffed into surface.

• Migrating Pedmarks, designed 1998 and cast 2008, Lynda Benglis, cast bronze, located outside.

  • Washed, rinsed, and dried. Applied tinted wax to interior and shoe polish to exterior.

• The Seated II, 2019, Wangechi Mutu, cast bronze, located inside.

  • Dry dusted, applied wax, and buffed surface.

• Second Daughter, 1989, Deborah Butterfield, cast bronze, located outside.

  • Washed, rinsed, and dried. Applied wax and buffed surface.

• Vermont (The Autumn), 1984, Jim Dine, cast bronze, located outside.

  • Washed, rinsed, and dried. Applied hot wax and buffed surface.

• Untitled, 1991, Joel Shapiro, cast bronze, located outdoors.

  • Washed, rinsed, and dried. Applied hot wax and buffed surface.

• John Burroughs, 1918, Cartaino di Sciarrino Pietro, cast bronze, located outside.

  • Washed, rinsed, and dried.

• Figure on Trunk with Wheels – Big, 2000, Magdalena Abakanowicz, cast bronze, located outside.

  • Removed corrosion, washed, rinsed, and dried. Applied wax and buffed surface.

• Gorilla, Daisy Youngblood, 1996, cast bronze, located outdoors.

  • Washed, rinsed, and dried. Applied tinted wax and buffed surface.

• Polar Bear Bench, Judy McKie, 2000, carved marble, located outdoors.

  • Washed and rinsed.

• Bearing Figure with Amphora, Howard Ben Tré, 1995-1997, cast colorless low-expansion glass, gold leaf inclusion, patinated cast bronze, and granite casing, located outdoors.

  • Washed and rinsed.

• Pair of Parallelogram Chairs, Scott Burton, 1987, polished balmoral granite, located outdoors.

  • Washed, rinsed, and dried.

• Moon Mirror, Josiah McElheny, 2019, stainless steel with pressed colored prismatic glass, located outdoors.

  • Washed, removed corrosion, rinsed, and dried.

  • Created log sheet for tracking damages to the glass panels.

• Printed Cotton Fragment, unknown artist, c. 19th-century, Europe.

  • Performed microscopy analysis on thread samples.

  • Mounted textile fragment onto a permanent mount for storage and exhibition.

Additional Experiences

• Assisted with integrated pest management (IPM) and gallery cleaning.

• Assisted conservators with security reported incidents including water leaks, insect activity, and visitors touching artwork.

• Wrote treatment reports and uploaded to Articheck, a digital art condition reporting program.

• Rehoused Netsuke for storage and updated inventory spreadsheet with descriptions and locations.

• Performed the Oddy Test and reviewed results.
